Open Call: The Next
The Li Tang Gallery is currently accepting submissions for its first online group show, The Next. In preparation for an era newly-shaped by a global pandemic, we are keen to present a platform for artists working across disciplines to share their evolving visions of our ongoing confrontation with The Spectacle. Subjects might include – but are not limited to – the ecosystem, social justice, decolonization, climate change, immigration, lifestyle, under-represented communities, and sustainability.
Artists at any stage of their career are invited to submit their work for consideration by our guest jury artist, Sizhu Li. The online group exhibition will be curated by the Li Tang team and promoted on Li Tang Gallery’s website, social media, and press coverage in both the United States and China.

Eligibility
Open to all artists 18 years and older.
All visual art media will be considered.

Submitted images must be labeled as follows:
Firstname_Lastname_Title_Medium_Dimensions_Year. jpeg
Jpeg files should not exceed 1MB. Selected artists will be contacted for high resolution images.
For video submission, we accept time-based artwork or kinetic works that need to be presented in videos. Video submissions should be limited to 2 min. For security reasons, we don’t open sites with passwords or download attachments from the web.
Timeline
- Submissions will be accepted until December 19, 2021
- Selected artists will be notified by December 30, 2021
- Exhibition opens January 8, 2022
- Exhibition closes March 5, 2022
About Jury Sizhu Li
Sizhu Li is a Chinese-born multi-disciplinary artist based in New York. She holds BFA in China Central Academy of Fine Art, and later MFA in Maryland Institute College of Art with Toby Devan Lewis Fellowship, a prestigious annual national award. Lived and worked on two different continents, Li developed a unique visual language of immersive kinetic installations to illustrate her understanding of nature and human. Li’s works have exhibited at Spring/Break, Flux Factory, Governor’s Island Art Fair & Public Art Project, Chashama Gallery, Baltimore–Washington International Airport, Anderson Ranch Arts Center and so on. Since 2020, her pandemic-inspired touring project Moonment has been well received at Attleboro Arts Museum, Missouri State University, and Maryland Howard County Art Council, and will exhibit at Alabama Contemporary Art Center (2022), and Amerasia Bank Art Gallery (2022). Li currently teaches at Pratt Institute and Montclair State University.
